Regular readers of this illustrious missive may recall my article from November 2009 about Sellaband, a social network website which enables aspiring musicians to raise the finance required to deliver a project, such as an album, to completion. I introduced readers to Aly Cook, one of New Zealand’s most successful self-managed independent artists. Aly joined Sellaband on August 3rd 2009 and had raised US$4,760 towards her target of US$20,000 after 11 weeks. I had intended to bring you regular updates on Aly’s progress to the target over the coming months; however I am delighted and thrilled to report that Aly reached her target on 8th December 2009 and is now the 40th artist on Sellaband to do so. The target was reached at around 17.00 GMT, or 06.00 NZDT. It was really exciting to watch the total amount building up on Aly’s Sellaband page. On reaching the target, Aly did a live webcast from her home in Nelson and I think it would be fair to say that she was just a little more than delighted! Download the full Article : HERE
